University Professorship in Energy Process Engineering

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering invites applications for the following position within salary scale W2 NBesO with Tenure Track leading to salary scale W3 NBesO starting as soon as possible: University Professorship in Energy Process Engineering
The position is limited to 5 years. Following a positive evaluation, the candidate will receive a tenured professorship (salary scale W3 NBesO).
The Position
The professorship is responsible for teaching and research in the field of Energy Process Engineering and of Heat Transfer at the Institute of Technical Combustion and after reaching the tenure position of the new Institute of Energy Process Engineering. The institute will be one of twenty institutes in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at LUH and is located at the 2020 established Campus Maschinenbau Garbsen (CMG).
The professorship's research and teaching focuses on the experimental and theoretical/numerical work in the field of future sustainable energy systems. Experimental research facilities are available or can be realized up to pilot technical scale within the research building Dynamics of Energy Conversion (Dynamik der Energiewandlung - DEW). With its involvement in the DEW and LiFE 2050 research networks, the research field and later the institute will be a key player for energy research at Leibniz University.
In teaching, the professorship offers courses in the Bachelor's and Master's degree programs in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Technology and Sustainable Engineering. Teaching activities include basic courses in the field of heat transfer and thermofluid dynamics as well as advanced application-specific courses in the field of energy process engineering. The professorship is also responsible for contributing to our international programmes by designing appealing and innovative teaching, including teaching courses in English.
Your Profile
What we expect:
- excellent qualifications in research and development in the field of energy process engineering, proven by relevant publications / patents or visible and successful research projects
- the focus of your proven research work is in one or more of the fields conversion ofenergy / energy storage / energy process engineering / conversion of substances / carbon capture and storage / systemic balancing of energy and mass.
- several years of experience in leading teams - preferably for scientific affairs. International experience and an industrial background are an advantage.
