© Zentrale Studienberatung / LUH

Preparation courses (Vorkurse), introductory sessions, Orientation Week, Orientation Days... Find out what happens when and where, and what offers you should accept to have an optimal start of your studies!

The optimal start of your studies

Preparation courses are offered for many degree programmes. Although participation is optional, it is strongly recommended. You will recieve basic knowledge of the programme, you will meet your fellow students and lecturers, and much more. There are preparation courses in mathematics open to all disciplines and preparation courses restricted to specific degree programmes. Find out in good time when and where these are held. If you are going to study more than one subject, go to the introductory sessions of your main subject. They often take place shortly before the semester begins.

Introductory sessions are held by lecturers and students of the faculties. They provide an overview of the organisation of the degree programme (including timetable/lecture plan), exam requirements, and much more.

This orientation and guidance is a big help to new students. You should take advantage of it!

Where can I find my preparation courses and introductory sessions?

On our faculties websites you will find the preparation courses and introductory sessions of your study programme and further important dates for your study start.

The introductory events and all other events of the current semester are also published in the . The course catalogue for the winter semester will be released on 1 September and on 1 March for the summer semester.

Information and dates for 2-subject study programmes

Students in a two-subject degree programme (e.g. FüBa, Eechnical Education, Special Needs Education or a Teaching master's degree programme) should also attend the events at the Leibniz School of Education in addition to the courses of their subjects. If there are scheduling conflicts, we always recommend going to the events for your first or main subject.
